Howdy. I hail from Texas, and after getting an Ivy League education and a law degree, I decided to put my overpriced eduction to good use: I got married and became a SAHM. I have never held a real job (my husband assures me that college internships and two-week stints as a waitress don't count), and quite frankly, don't think I ever could – I have problems with people telling me what to do. Especially when they're pricks. Thus, I have happily chosen motherhood and computer nerd-dom in the hopes of someday making money doing… something. Because, apparently, being a stay-at-home mom is doing nothing. Other than being interested in all things mommy-related, I am an amateur illustrator and web designer (and by "amateur web designer" I mean I gleefully mutilate CSS, HTML and all things Photoshop), as well as a closeted tech junkie. I illustrated all the images featured in the design of my blog. Interested in getting me to design for you? Send me a message.
I created this blog to share my thoughts and knowledge about motherhood, SAHMhood, babies, and what people aren't talking about. But mainly to talk about being a Stay-At-Home Mom (SAHM) in this day and age. Oh, and I've noticed there seems to be a strong link between SAHMhood and religion. Lots of Christian SAHMs out there who home-school their kids. With all due respect, Jesus has nothing to do with my decision to stay home. And I'd rather repeatedly bludgeon myself with a portrait of Andrea Yates than home-school my kids. Other random facts about me:
- I am a huge Spurs fan. Ok, really just a Tim Duncan fan. All you swooning ladies can have Tony Parker – I'm all about the Big Fundamental. SIGH.
- I will not buy plain paper towels. They've got to have prints on them. The brighter and more childish the better, if you ask me.
- I write serial fiction. Check out my other blog The Noble Pirates. I write about pirates and time travel. No, I'm not kidding.
I love being a mother – it is the most challenging and rewarding thing I've ever done – and hope I can share what I have learned and continue to learn about the little loves of my life.
Mimi
